Alice (Brooks) and Rudolph Ruehl Collection
Content Description
The collection consists of postcards and souvenir views of South Dakota from the late 1940s. The items were purchased by Alice and Rudolph Ruehl, of Milwaukee (WI), while traveling through South Dakota. Also included, is a photocopied journal kept by Alice of their trip through South Dakota in 1948. The postcard booklet is titled, “Black Hills, South Dakota The Mountain Vacation Land” and feature images of Mount Rushmore, Needles Highway, Harney Peak, Black Hills, State Game Lodge Hotel, Dinosaur Park, and Sylvan Lake. The other item is titled, “Souvenir Views, Scenic South Dakota” and includes twenty 3 ½” x 2 ½” postcards of the Corn Palace, Mount Rushmore, Badlands, Spearfish Canyon, Needles Highway, Sylvan Lake, Pigtail Bridges, and Rough Lock Falls (S.D.).
