The collection consists of letters and a journal from family members of Senator Francis Case of South Dakota. There are 13 letters that date to the 1930s and 21 letters that date to the 1940s. Most of the letters are addressed to Carol (Case) Goddard, the younger sister of Francis Case. A number of letters are from Francis and Carol’s father, Herbert L. Case along with other family acquaintances including Francis Case. The journal is also believed to be written by Herbert L. Case. The front cover reads “1955 Mankato, MN 528 S. 4th, Phone 4085.” The journal mostly mentions Herbert’s selling of bonds to different individuals throughout South Dakota in 1955.
