The collection consists of correspondence between George Meadows and Ed Powers. There are 15 letters from George Meadows (in Ipswich, SD) written to Ed Powers (in Oregon) from April 1927 to January 1952. The bulk of the correspondence is from Ed Powers to George Meadows – 101 letters. Ed and George were friends for 70 years. They met in Minneapolis on there way to Dakota Territory, arriving in Aberdeen in 1883. Ed Powers moved to Oregon in 1907. The correspondence covers their continued friendship for the next 46 years. Some of the topics covered include: farming, Ipswich & Aberdeen news, Depression era in SD, state and national politics, visits to Oregon and South Dakota, and news of old friends – living and deceased.
