The collection consists of one 35mm microfilm containing various items. Part of the microfilm includes correspondence written by Judge Joe H Bottum of Sioux Falls to his parents. The eleven letters were written from September 1880 to September 1881, one of the topics discussed is the winter of 1880-1881 in Dakota Territory. It is not known from where the letters originated. Also included are lists of early Faulk County Settlers from 1882-1883, letters and other correspondence concerning the formation of Faulk County, a poem concerning the settlement of Faulk County, and various Faulk County newspapers. The film also includes a land patent for Francis Randell in Miner County, a marriage certificate from Faulk County from 1884/1907, and notes written by Carrie Morse Norton titled, “Lines here and there from Bird Notes, 1916-1923” The microfilm was originally housed with the newspaper microfilm reels, but it was determined that the microfilm should be accessioned as a manuscript collection.
