George B. German Collection

The collection consists of photos, news clippings, music books, certificates, and record albums of George B. German. George was born in Princeville, IL on January 29, 1902. He began working for WNAX radio in Yankton in 1928. German was a “cowboy balladeer” recording over 30 western songs. He also wrote poetry. He was also curator of the Dakota Territorial Museum in Yankton in the 1970s. German was a member of the South Dakota Hall of Fame, South Dakota Broadcasters Hall of Fame. George died on July 2, 1991 in Yankton.
