Content Description
This collection consists of four photographs pertaining to the Coates family. The donors grandmother, Mary Louise Brouillette, was the daughter of Peter and Sophia Brouillette who were dairy farmers near the Pierre (S.D.) area in the late nineteenth century. Mary Louise went on to marry Guy R. Coates of Sioux City (IA). Descriptions of the photos are below. Photo measuring 3 ¼ x 4 ¼ of Peter and Sophia Brouillette on their carriage in or around Pierre, undated. (Possibly M.J. Schubert, Druggist at the corner of Dakota and Coteau). Cabinet card measuring 4 ¼ x 6 ½ that shows Mary Brouillette and Macella Brouillette taken in Pierre by R.L. Kelly, 1888. 8x10 photo reprint of Guy Roy Coates who owned and operated the Majestic Cleaning Works in Elk Point. Postcard photograph of Main Street, Elk Point, SD dated 1913.
