This collection consists of publications, pamphlets, calendars, and artwork by or about Mike Sougstad. Sougstad was born in Madison, South Dakota in 1939, but grew up in Fulton. He graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University and the University of Wyoming. Sougstad was the Director of the Pierre Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director of the South Dakota Cowboy and Western Heritage Hall of Fame, and Director of the High Plains Heritage Center in Spearfish. He also worked with the West in Miniature Museum, and painted murals at the Middle Border Museum. Sougstad taught art at the college level in Wyoming, Colorado, and South Dakota. He was named the Art Department Head at Dakota Wesleyan University in January 2004.
