Content Description

The collection consists of materials regarding Lloyd Crouch of Ideal (S.D.) dated to the 1910s to 1920s. Lloyd Crouch was born in 1906 to Willard and Inez (Powell) Crouch in Nebraska. The family later settled near Ideal (S.D.) in Tripp County. Lloyd graduated from Ideal High School in 1925. The collection includes a number of Crouch family photographs. The collection features images of Lloyd’s parents, presumably on their wedding day, and other images of Willard Crouch. Also photographed are Lloyd as a child along with his sisters Lucille and Hazel. There are also photographs of the family barn during haying season and the Crouch children next to an early automobile. In one postcard, the Ritz Theatre in Winner (S.D.) is in the background. Also included are the diploma and invitation for the Ideal High School class of 1925 and a play booklet, in which Lloyd acted, titled “Little Buckshot.” There are also two “Honor Scholarship Certificates” from the South Dakota Board of Regents awarded to Lloyd. The collection also features photographs of the Ideal class of 1925, in cap and gowns and in formal dress, as well as the 1925 Ideal men’s basketball team. The Lienhart photo studio in Winner (S.D.) took these three images.
