Content Description

The collection consists of materials regarding Donald McGough and Katherine Vopat. The Donald McGough materials include military records from his service in World War II including piloting certificates, radio telephone operator documents and other correspondence. The collection also includes two yearbooks (Senedak) from the Seneca High School dated 1936 and 1937. The yearbooks, with notes written to Donald, contain original photographs of students, the high school, and some staff. Also included are tax records from 1949 for Donald’s farm near Highmore and two Boy Scouts of America certificates on completion of elements of scout leadership courses. The oversized item (MD 116) include documents on Katherine Vopat; a diploma for perfect attendance at the number two school district in Hyde County 1910, a remembrance of first communion certificate 1911, a seventh grade finals certificate for 1914 and a certificate for passing the seventh grade in Hyde County 1914. Five postcards in the collection include: Fort Pierre main street by C.C. Slack of Sioux Falls, Birds Eye View of Pierre from State Capitol (with old wooden Capitol in foreground taken by Johnson-Olson 1910, Highmore (S.D.) images of the Catholic Church, main street and business block all dated to the 1950s.
