The collection consists of one spiral bound, 118-page history of the Bakken Family of Day County completed in 2013. Douglas and Jacquelyn Bakken wrote and compiled the family history with Douglas being the grandson of Ole Bakken. The family history is split into three sections: History (1-53), Enclosures and Bibliography (54-103) and Genealogy (104-117). Ole Eriksen Bakken (1855-1939) was one of eight children born to Erik and Kari Bakkom that lived in a small Norwegian farm known as Rotteimsbakken. Ole immigrated to America in 1880 at age 25 and lived with family members in southern Minnesota. Ole married Anna Iline Ellanson on April 18, 1885 and soon after, they moved to Lynn Township, Day County, Dakota Territory. Ole and Anna had fourteen children. The history of those children is also included in the booklet. The history includes photographs, family genealogy and various genealogical records.
