Columbus College (Sioux Falls, S.D.)—Photographs
The collection consists of photographs, and name cards, of eight members of the 1925 graduating class who attended Columbus College at Sioux Falls (S.D.). Columbus College was founded in 1909 at Chamberlain (S.D.) as a Catholic boarding school and college. The institution moved to Sioux Falls in 1921 and then closed in 1927. The eight individuals identified in the photographs and their hometowns are John F. Craig (Tulare, S.D.), Abrose T. Higgins (Rock Valley, IA), Francis T. Kennedy (Sioux Falls, S.D.), Albert J. Kehrwald (Ramona, S.D.), Balthasar Malsom (Hillsview, S.D.), John P Merrick (Yale, S.D.), Almond J. Mick (Ethan, S.D.) and Leonard Sullivan (Madison, S.D.). The Hanson & Leigh Photo Studio of Sioux Falls took the photographs. John Ryan, the donor’s father, attended Columbus College in the 1920s and graduated in 1925. He was acquainted with some of those listed in the collection. Photocopies of select pages from the 1925 Columbus College yearbook are also included.
