Content Description
The collection consists of sixteen color slides of images taken in the Black Hills of South Dakota in the late 1940s. The images include Mt. Rushmore, scenes on the Needles Highway, and images of Dinosaur Park in Rapid City. The collection highlights Black Hills tourism and vacationing in the post-WWII era. Wayburn Johnston was born in 1880 in Estherville, IA. He started a manufacturing company in Minneapolis, MN (Johnston Mfg. Co) in 1923. He died on January 14, 1965. The slides were placed in one archival plus, clear file, plastic sleeve.
