Content Description

The collection consists of photographs and postcards collected and taken by the Leach Family who lived near Stone Lake in Potter County. The materials in the collection date from the 1910s to 1940s. The collection features images of the construction of the Whitlock Crossing Bridge at Forest City (S.D.), Leach family photos with Alvin Leach, Elmer Leach, Pearl Jones, Kate Leach and Robert Leach and a photo of family members on Medicine Rock. Also included are postcards showing agricultural work, specifically threshing rigs and an image of a Gray Tractor plowing the soil. In addition, the collection has postcards for Easter and Christmas as well as a postcard of Wall Drug taken in 1948. Also included in the collection is a 1911 Rand, McNally and Company map of South Dakota. The map features counties, towns and their population as well as railroad lines.
