The collection consists of a forty-seven page transcript of an interview of John E. Miller, Professor Emeritus of History at South Dakota State University with Jon Lauck. An extended interview was conducted from October to December of 2010 and in January 2013. A shorter version of the interview was published in South Dakota History, volume forty-four, number two, summer 2014. Professor Miller taught American history, South Dakota history and other courses at South Dakota State University for twenty-nine years. He wrote eight books, edited or coedited five others, along with a number of magazine and journal articles. The transcript interview discusses Professor Miller’s early life, career, his approach to history, his family and his books. A duplicate copy of the transcript was also deposited at the Center for Western Studies, Augustana College, Sioux Falls.
