Badger Clark--Poetry--"God Meets Me in the Mountain"
The collection consists of a one page, hand-written poem by Badger Clark titled, “God Meets Me in the Mountains.” The poem was first published in “Christian Century” and later in Badger Clark’s book Sky Lines and Wood Smoke first published in 1935. In the early 1920s, the donor’s grandfather, Reverend Robert Tarleton and Badger Clark’s father were both ministers in Hot Springs (S.D.). The two families were friends. Badger Clark was named Poet Laureate of South Dakota by Governor Leslie Jensen in 1937.
