Content Description

The collection consists of two mounted photographs dated to the 1890s. One photograph is of famed Wind Cave explore Alva McDonald. The 4x6 inch portrait photo of McDonald shows him wearing a ribbon titled, “Chief Guide, Wonderful Wind Cave, Hot Springs, S.D.” taken by the E. L. Ford, Ground Floor Gallery in Albion, Michigan. A second photo, 5x8 inches, by the Mayberry photo studio of New Castle, Wyoming shows a cliff face with a man standing on top. The caption on the back reads, “Wind Cave, Water Rights” and “Evan Thomas McDonald rock, J. D. McDonald.” This collection is an accretion to H2008-067 and H2009-022.
