The collection consists of various materials on the Gasohol/Ethanol Industry in South Dakota. Jim Pufahl was a major contributor to the early history of the Gasohol and Ethanol Industries in South Dakota. Mr. Pufahl opened the Pufahl Enterprises, LTD in 1973 were worked on researching, experimenting, and developing products related to alcohol fuels. In the early 1980s, Mr. Pufahl served on the South Dakota Alcohol Fuels Commission, South Dakota Alcohol Fuels Association, and the Board of Directors representing South Dakota on the National Gasohol Commission. Mr. Pufahl was born in Milbank in 1927; he died in January of 2000.
