The collection consists of research materials compiled and written by Bob Lee, Black Hills journalist, historian and author. The collection of written material is loosely titled “Sioux Scouts and Sioux Soldiers Documents.” Chapter titles include “Sioux Scouts manuscript,” “Crazy Horse as Enlisted Scout” and “Sioux Soldiers Manuscript.” In addition, there are a number of appendixes on various Dakota Territory military forts. The appendixes also offer information on various Native American scouts and soldiers employed with the military. It is also assumed that some of these writing were given as presentations at various conferences. The collection is an accretion to other Bob Lee materials at the South Dakota State Archives including H75-145, H90-025, H92-115 and H2007-098. The documents were transferred to the State Archives from the South Dakota Historical Society Press.
