Content Description
The collection consists of one high school yearbook dated 1936 and one high school diploma from 1938 for Jean Riemath a student at Firesteel High School in Dewey County. The Firesteel High School yearbook from 1936 is titled “Peta Maza,” that year was Jean’s sophomore year. The yearbook includes a listing of the yearbook staff, school poem, history of Firesteel (S.D.) and Firesteel High School, high school faculty, freshman, sophomore and junior classes, grade school faculty and students and a list of high school activities such as boys and girls basketball, plays, contests, glee club and popularity contest. The yearbook ends with a financial statement and list of Firesteel High School alumni. Included are real photographs of the school, faculty and students. Jean’s high school diploma is from Timber Lake High School. It is believed that Firesteel students transferred to Timber Lake for their senior year to graduate. The diploma is dated May 20, 1938. They moved to Harvey (N.D.) after their marriage and later moved to Portland (OR) around 1945.
