Content Description

The collection consists of a photo album, loose photographs and two yearbooks concerning Beatrice ‘Bea’ Howard and her time as a high school student in Rapid City in the early 1940s. The photo album includes images of Beatrice and her high school friends. The images are unidentified, but Beatrice can be recognized in the photographs in comparing images to her yearbook photo. The images also include various young men in military uniforms during the period of World War II. The yearbooks date to 1942 and 1943 with Beatrice graduating in 1943 from Rapid City High School. The yearbooks are titled, “Pine Cone” and include autographs and notes from various individuals. The collection also includes photographs and news clippings from the Rapid City class of 1943 reunion in 1989. A few of the images from the 1940s include images of Dinosaur Park in Rapid City. The collection was transferred from the Simi Valley Historical Society & Museum, Simi Valley (CA).
