Bill Van Camp Collection—“Letters from Vietnam”
The collection consists of one booklet titled, “Letters from Vietnam.” The booklet includes transcriptions of letters and audio tapes sent by Bill Van Camp to his wife Nancy Van Camp during the Vietnam War; a five-year period in which Bill served in the Army from 1968 to 1973. The booklet covers Bill’s basic training from 1968-1970, his service in Vietnam from December 1970 to May 1971 and his return to the states while in the service form 1971-1973. It also includes Vietnam and family photographs from the time period. The booklet is interlaced with Nancy’s memories and a few of her letters. As well as the Vietnam correspondence, the booklet offers an excellent representation of the family experience on the home front during the Vietnam War. The booklet is dated to September 2016.
