Content Description

The collection consists of four color postcards. One of the Corn Palace in Mitchell (S.D.) showing the large stage and basketball court ca. 1940s, an aerial view of the Pigtail Bridges in the Black Hills and two images of Mount Rushmore, one showing the sculpture with a car in the foreground and an image of the Visitors Center at the memorial. The Mount Rushmore and Pigtail bridges date to the 1960s. The Corn Palace image was taken by the Dan Grigg Enterprise Company of Mitchell (S.D.). The other three postcards were all associated with the Burgess Company of Keystone (S.D.). the Burgess Company images highlight the burgeoning tourist industry in South Dakota in the 1960s.
