Florence McEachran—Pierpont (S.D.) school photos
Content Description
The collection consists of two (5x8) photographs mounted on black card stock of teachers and students standing at the front entrance to the school at Pierpont (S.D.) in Day County. Florence McEachran taught at the Pierpont school from 1909 to 1911. The first image features four women in white dresses and one man (possibly a teacher or principal) on the steps of the school. Writing on the back notes that Florence is standing in the first row to the far right. The second image includes Florence standing on the steps with 28 young students. The photographer is not identified. Writing on the back of the photo list all the names of the children. The first classes were held in the school building in September 1904. A fire destroyed the school on January 16, 1924.
