The collection consists of one brochure titled, “‘Go to South Dakota’ urges Frank Lloyd Wright.” The brochure was published by the Greater South Dakota Association (Huron, S.D.). The brochure consists of a letter, written by Mr. Wright on September 28, 1935, published in TIME Magazine on January 17, 1938. The letter provides descriptive details of a trip made by Mr. Wright through South Dakota, mainly featuring the Badlands and Black Hills. Locations visited in the Black Hills include Mount Rushmore, Stockade Lake, Sylvan Lake, Spearfish Canyon, Homestake Mine (Lead, S.D.) and Rapid City (S.D.). According to the brochure, Wright first visited South Dakota in 1935 and made annual visits back through the state. Wright’s letter promoted the state from the point of view of a well-known figure. The donation also included other brochures added to the State Archives vertical file collections including those for Kadoka (S.D.), Black Hills National Forest, Badlands National Park, Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park.
