The collection consists of numerous postcards depicting various South Dakota scenes dating from the 1960s to 1970s. The images related to both South Dakota and Black Hills tourism. Topics include the Corn Palace (Mitchell, S.D.), Story Book Island (Rapid City, S.D.), Crazy Horse Monument (S.D.), Korczak Ziolkowski, Wall Drug (Wall, S.D.), Mount Rushmore National Memorial (S.D.), Dinosaur Park (Rapid City, S.D.), Badlands National Park (S.D.), Custer State Park (S.D.), American Buffalo/Bison, Rushmore Cave (Keystone, S.D.), Needles Highway, Roughlock Falls, Sylvan Lake, Town ‘N Country Café (Sioux Falls, S.D.), Deadwood (S.D.), Westport (S.D.), Prairie Dogs, South Dakota State Capitol (Pierre, S.D.), Davison County Courthouse (Mitchell, S.D.) and the Harney Peak Hotel (Hill City, S.D.) Two postcards stored in box 5052B include one red postcard for the “Trial of Jack McCall for the Killing of Wild Bill Hickok” at Deadwood (S.D.) and a Corn Palace image transposed onto an ear of corn. Photographers and publishers included with the postcards are Espe Printing Co. (Sioux Falls, S.D.), Rushmore Photos (Rapid City, S.D.), Dakota News, Inc (Sioux Falls, S.D.), Dan Grigg Enterprises (Mitchell, S.D.), Burgess Company Inc (Keystone, S.D.), Rise Studio (Rapid City, S.D.), The Goin Company (Mitchell, S.D.) and Black Hills Postcard Co (Deadwood, S.D.).
