The collection consists of postcards obtained by Bill and Marion Ruesink while on a honeymoon to the Black Hills of South Dakota in June 1948. Bill and Marion were married in Sheboygan (WI) on June 19, 1948. The newlyweds traveled by car to the Black Hills and purchased the postcards while on their trip. The collection includes forty-two real and linen colored postcards. Various topics include Harney Peak, the Needles Highway, Sylvan Lake and Hotel, the Badlands, various rodeo scenes, Custer State Park Game Lodge, Spearfish Canyon, Bridal Veil Falls, Crystal Cave, Bear Butte, Evans Plunge (Hot Springs, S.D.) and the Homestake Mine (Lead, S.D.). Rodeo images taken by Ralph Doubleday include photos of Norman Mason, Mose Patnone, Floyd Stillings, Mabel Strickland and Mike Hastings.
