Content Description

The collection consists of one booklet titled “Souvenir Letter, Sioux Falls, So. Dak” consisting of eight pages of images taken in Sioux Falls (S.D.) from the 1900s. Images include the Falls and Rapids on the Sioux River, the Cataract Hotel, Ninth street and the Cataract Hotel, Carnegie Library, Post Office and Government Building, Minnehaha County Courthouse, Masonic Temple, South Dakota State Penitentiary, All Saints’ School and Phillips Avenue. The outside of the image booklet is postmarked to 1909 and includes a two-cent postage stamp featuring George Washington. The booklet was created by the Douglas Publishing Company (Buffalo, NY) as part of the Great Northern Railroad Series. The booklet was transferred outright from the Dakota City Heritage Village (Farmington, MN).
