South Dakota State Capitol (Pierre, S.D.)—Postcards, 1910
The collection consists of eight postcard views of the newly completed South Dakota State Capitol (Pierre, S.D.). Dating to 1910, they are some of the earliest views of the State Capitol. The postcard views consist of two exterior views (front and back) of the State Capitol, images of the Governor’s Public Room, Senate and House chambers, view of the rotunda and stairway, main stairway and an interior view of the capitol dome. The reverse notes that Charles J. Hibbard of Minneapolis (MN) took the photographs, the capitol architect was C. E. Bell of Minneapolis and Bloom Bros. Publishing of Minneapolis published the cards.
