Content Description

The collection consists of one hundred and ninety (190) 35mm color slides taken in the Black Hills of South Dakota by photographer Robert Tyszka. The main subjects of interest were Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument. The slides date to 1982, 1983, 1986, 1990 and 1991. Other image topics include the Needles Highway, Sylvan Lake, mines, stagecoaches and general landscape scenes as well as animals such as bears, elk, squirrels, mountain goats, deer and bighorn sheep. Mr. Tyszka is an amateur photographer who was involved with camera/photo clubs, entered various photo competitions and had images used in various publications. His job allowed him to travel to various locations, one of them being South Dakota. The donor requested the following credit line for any images used: South Dakota State Historical Society photo by Robert Tyszka.
