Content Description

The collection consists of seven, real photo postcards of various South Dakota scenes. Included are two images of Dixon (S.D.) featuring a birds eye view and a street scene, an image of a wolf taken as part of the Wolf Bounty titled, “Grey caught by the Government hunter,” dated March 9, 1919, two images taken by Ralph Doubleday of a “round-up” rodeo in Mitchell (S.D.) showing various performers one identified as Leonard Stroud on Billie Sunday dated 1920, a photo by publisher E.M. Hegglund of Pierre of a buffalo herd presumably Scotty Philip’s buffalo near Fort Pierre (S.D.) and finally, a street scene taken on Pierre Street in Pierre (S.D.). The majority of the images date from the 1910s to early 1920s. A South Dakota Game and Fish bulletin effective January 1, 1923 will be added to the Game, Fish and Parks vertical file.
