Charlie and Ruth Rose Collection
The collection consists of six (6) letters concerning Charles and Ruth (Feeney) Rose. Three letters date to the early 1920s, two by Charlie, and one by Ruth. The letters were written in Faulk County between Rockham and Miranda, South Dakota. Topics written about include farming, farm prices, family news, trips, moonshine, and shopping. Three additional letters were written to Ruth after the death of her husband in 1965, including a letter from the Immaculate Conception Indian Mission School in Stephan, SD concerning Ruth’s request for Holy Masses for Charlie. The letter is signed by Father Augustine Edele. Ruth was born and raised in Aurora, SD and attended Northern State University. She taught in the Redfield-Rockham area. She married Charlie in Brookings in January of 1924 and they farmed in the Rockham area.
