Content Description

The collection consists of materials relating to the Custodian Engineers Association of South Dakota dating from the 1940s to 2010s. The bulk of the collection includes issues of the association’s magazine titled, “The Custodian” dating from 1943 to 1968 and 1983 to 2015. The magazine includes officer information, writeups on the profession and business advertisements. The association’s primary goal was to train custodial and maintenance personnel to keep them up to date on all procedures, chemicals, and equipment so they could do their jobs more efficiently and safely. The association held yearly workshops and existed for seventy-six years. The state was also divided into “units” which held their own meetings and training. A metal map of the unit locations in South Dakota is included with the collection. The collection also has photo albums and publications on various workshops and meetings held throughout the state. Also included in the collection are application information for recipients of a CEASD Scholarship from 2004-2018. High School and College transcripts were removed from the collection and discarded.
