Blunt (S.D.)—Fire Insurance Map, 1923
The collection consists of one (21 x 26 inch) fire insurance map of the town of Blunt (S.D.) dated September 1923. The map shows the lots, blocks and street layout of the town. The insurance map includes the various structures in town including the businesses on main street, churches, lumber yards, hotels, banks, an elevator, railroad depot, electric light plant and schools. Also included is a map of the water works in the town, installed in 1923. There is also a key describing the features of the map. The town was surveyed by the General Inspection Bureau, Walter I. Fisher manager. The map is similar to both Sanborn and Fire Underwriter fire insurance maps, but the map appears to not be associated with these organizations. The map was placed with the other Sanborn Fire Insurance maps in the State Archives collections.
