The collection consists of various maps, booklets, leaflets and brochures compiled by Joseph Elrod, dating to the late 1960s and early 1970s. Mr. Elrod was a fishery biologist on Lakes Sharpe and Oahe from 1966 to 1972. Items include Progress in Sport Fishery Research, 1966-1969 (4) published by the United States Department of the Interior/Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife. South Dakota Waterfowl Production Areas maps, 1967-1972 (6) published by the United States Department of the Interior/Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife. U.S. Army Corp of Engineers/Omaha District maps of Lake Oahe, Lewis & Clark Lake, Lake Sharpe and Lake Francis Case (4) from the late 1960s. A map of the Oahe Conservancy Sub-District ca. 1960s. A brochure with a map of the Oahe Unit, Pick-Sloan Missouri River Basin Program published by the United States Department of the Interior. Also included are other miscellaneous publications including South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department brochures titled, “Know Your Fishes Guide,” a South Dakota Hunting Guide from 1970, a South Dakota Fishing Guide from 1972, “Fishing is Great on the Great Lakes,” and Hoop Nets and Setline Regulations from 1971. There are also brochures on South Dakota Ground Water Supply, the Missouri River Basin and “Rivers End” a brochure about a film on South Dakota Water Pollution.
