The collection consists of various items concerning the history of Blunt (S.D.) compiled by De Knudson. Topics found within the collection include Blunt’s 1984 Centennial, Blunt’s 125 Anniversary in 2009, various items on Blunt Veterans, history on the town’s namesake John E. Blunt and his family, and information on Mother/Daughter Teas held in Blunt. Also included is an entry in the Congressional Record from June 23, 2009 concerning Blunt’s history and anniversary. The collection includes photographs and news clippings from various events. The collection also features two DVDs with information on Blunt Vietnam War Veterans and on Blunt’s 125th Anniversary, both compiled in 2009. The video on Blunt Vietnam Veterans, compiled by Harry Kumpula, runs roughly 40 minutes and includes images from local Veterans, images found online and scenes from various Veterans’ Day activities in Blunt and Pierre. The Blunt 125th Anniversary video includes historical and present-day images of Blunt. The videos will be restricted to research purposes only due to copyright issues. Duplicate items were removed and added to the Blunt (S.D.) Vertical File. The collection is an accretion to other Blunt related collections, H2010-007 and H2010-032.
