Content Description

The collection consists of various postcards and a postcard booklet with images of Mount Rushmore, Ben Black Elk and other Black Hills locations dating from the 1960s and 1970s. Views include the Rockerville Trail Motel (Rockerville, S.D.), five color postcards of Mount Rushmore, a postcard of Ben Black Elk standing at Mount Rushmore and a “Black Hills of South Dakota” booklet of fourteen views featuring the Needles Eye, Pig Tail Bridge, Needles Highway, Mount Rushmore, Sylvan Lake, American Buffalo/Bison, Spearfish Canyon and Roughlock Falls. Also included are one postcard of a close up view of George Washington’s face at Mount Rushmore and a postcard titled, “Waterfall and Dense Woods,” at Spearfish Canyon date to the 1930s. An early Mount Rushmore brochure from the 1940s was added to the Vertical File for Mount Rushmore.
