The collection consists of thirty-one miscellaneous South Dakota postcards transferred to the South Dakota State Archives from the Timber Lake and Area Historical Society. Topics include President Taft in Redfield (S.D.) in 1911, Orient (S.D.) depot, farm machinery and laborers, the burial of dead horse and cattle, Battle Mountain Sanitarium at Hot Springs (S.D.), cattle herds, buildings at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion (S.D.), State Tuberculosis Sanatorium at Sanator (S.D.), a street scene in Sturgis (S.D.), Northern State University (Aberdeen, S.D.), post office and depot at Aberdeen, family gardening scene, Spearfish Canyon, Harney Peak forest ranger station, Tri-State Roundup at Belle Fourche (S.D.) and Badlands views. Named photographers include S.D. Butcher and Sons (Kerney, NE), William H. Lawton (Vermillion, S.D.), Rise Studio (Rapid City, S.D.), Nicholas A. Brothers (Aberdeen, S.D.), W. B.
