The collection consists of photographs of Lina (Evans) Roskie during various time periods in her life, her parents, friends and her children. Lina was born April 2, 1881, in Minnesota to Simion and Martha Evans. The Evans family moved to Dakota Territory in 1885 and eventual settled in Brookings. Lina met George Roskie while both attended South Dakota State University in Brookings. Lina married George on September 1, 1905, and they had two children, Gertrude and George Frederick. The collection features various family photographs of the Evans and Roskie families. Lina is in most of the photos, either with her parents, her own family and children, or in other views. Included is a photograph of the Women’s Inter Collegiate Basketball Championship team for the 1901 season, of which Lina was a participant. The collection also includes one letter sent to Lina while George was serving at Fort Riley (Kansas) with the South Dakota National Guard dated August 20, 1908. Additional letters are within the previously donated collection. Photographers noted in the collection include Walter L. Cooke—Photo Studio (Brookings, S.D.), John G. Oyloe—Photo Studio (Brookings, S.D.) and Wornson Bros.—Photo Studio (Brookings, S.D.) The collection is an accretion to H2013-097.
