Content Description

The collection consists of thirty-nine (39) color and black & white slides relating to the Bald Mountain Mining Company. The Trojan Mining Company, at Bald Mountain, was organized in 1911 and was the second largest gold producer in the Black Hills from 1918 to 1923. The company, however, suspended operations in February 1923. The Bald Mountain Mining Company was organized and retained the rights to the Trojan Mining Company in November 1, 1928 and continued mining operations until 1959. The slides show historic images of the mine and the Bald Mountain Mining Company as well as derelict buildings and machinery at the mine site. Also included are drawings of both mining equipment and the mine itself. The slides date to August 1983.
