Content Description

The collection consists of photographs and postcards that were held in two separate frames at the Brule County Courthouse. Some of the images in the collection include: early Chamberlain, Missouri River scenes, Fort Hale, Corn Palace (Mitchell, SD), and the Old Brule Agency. A majority of the images are of Steamboats and the freighting industry along the Missouri River during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Bachelor, General Terry, General Meade, Milwaukee, Red Cloud, Rosebud, Nellie Peck, Josephine, Far West, Washburn, Little Maud, Oliver King, Montana, Oleander, Nyllis-Lorraine, B.A. Douglass, Helena, Last Chance, and General McPherson.
