Content Description

The collection consists of materials relating to the Jarman Family and Nowlin, SD. Included in the collection is a Young Citizen’s League record book including, rules, membership rolls, minutes, and officers dated from 1929 to 1937. The collection also contains a “Teacher’s Attendance and Classification Register,” which runs from September 1918 to May 1924. A family scrapbook and postcard book, provided by Dale Jarman, were brought to the State Archives and photocopies and scans were made. Photocopied materials include Nowlin, SD and Jarman family history. Scans were made of thirty one images found in the scrapbooks. The scanned images were printed and placed in the collection along with the CD of scanned images. Some of the images scanned include: 4th South Dakota Infantry, Belvedere SD, Rapid City Blizzard of ’49, Bridges in Pierre, Buffalo, Douglas Walker, Ft. Pierre Rodeo, Pierre Frontier Days, Lake Preston SD, Midland Bridge, Mitchell SD Main Street, M. E. Church – Nowlin, Nowlin 1908, 1928 Graduating Class – Nowlin, Philip SD School Fire, Picnic on Bad River, T. F. Riggs, Queen Bee Flower Mill – Sioux Falls, S. M. Dorothy Residence – Nowlin, and Mrs. A B. Nelson Residence – Pierre. Preservation masters of the scanned images were generated during processing in accordance with the Archives’ Digital Preservation Rules.
