SD Postcard Collection
Content Description
The collection consists of nine postcards: three color tinted, two black and white, and four oversized color postcards. The three color tinted postcards include Mount Rushmore, a bird’s eye view of Rapid City (S.D.), and a scene on the Needles Highway in Custer State Park. The two black and white postcards are titled, “Tunnel near Sylvan Lake in the Black Hills” and “Thirty Million Years required to fashion this fantastic sculpture in the S. Dak Badlands.” Both images were taken by Rise Photo studio. The oversize color postcards include an image of the Governor’s Inn (Pierre, S.D.) and three images of the Petrified Wood Park (Lemmon, S.D.) credited to Merrill Parker, Jr.
