SD General Photo Collection--Mount Rushmore
The collection consists of two photographs of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial (S.D.) at various stages of construction from the 1930s. The first image shows the visible head of George Washington and the initial carving work on Abraham Lincoln. The photograph was developed by the Miller Photo Studio in Pierre and is dated 1930. The second image shows Mount Rushmore mostly complete with scaffolding covering the head of Theodore Roosevelt. Two individuals, Myron and Harriet Wilson of Rapid City (uncle and aunt of the donor) are in the photo. The image was also developed by the Miller Photo Studio and date stamped to 1938.
