The collection consists of weather reports and panoramic photographs collected by Jo and Winston Hall. Jo and Winston ran the Weather Service office for a number of years in Mobridge (S.D.). The weather reports offer daily accounts of the weather in Mobridge from 1926 to 1983. Also included are a few issues of the Cooperative Observer Regional Newsletter (mainly from the 1960s); a folder noted as “Personnel” with correspondence and contracts; and publications titled Climatological Data for South Dakota with loose issues from the 1930s through the 1980s. The book A guide to the stratigraphy of South Dakota by Allen F. Agnew and Paul C. Tychsen, 1965 is also held in the collection. Also included are a U.S. Department of Agriculture, Wind Bureau map of the United States from December 1937 and general plan maps for a Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific Railroad Relocation, Missouri River Bridge Approach Fill dated February 1957. The donation also includes nine panoramic photographs. Further preservation work will need to be completed on the images in order to store them in a map drawer. Three of the images were taken on the Northern Normal and Industrial School (Aberdeen, S.D.) in 1915, 1916, and 1921. All three panoramic images were taken by the photo studio of N.A. Brothers of Aberdeen (S.D.). There are three additional unidentified images. One is a World War II era image that may include Winston Hall; two images are from the World War I era. These will be retained with the collection. Three of the panoramic images are identified as being taken in Minnesota and will be offered to the Minnesota State Historical Society.
