Content Description
The collection consists of one photograph and one prescription sheet for Dr. Jesse D. Whiteside. Jesse was born in Troy, IL on November 9, 1878 and his family came to Dakota Territory in 1881, settling near Vermillion. He graduated from USD in 1900 and subsequently entered the medical department at Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Whiteside began his medical practice in Aberdeen in 1909. During World War I he was a member of the Medical Corps at Camp Dodge, IA. The photograph is of Dr. Whiteside in his uniform during World War I. The prescription sheet gives his name J. D. Whiteside, M.D. and address at 420 Citizen Bldg, Aberdeen, SD.
