Content Description
The collection consists of twelve photographs (mostly cabinet cards) of individuals from Miller, Highmore, and Gettysburg, South Dakota ca. 1890s. A majority of the photos are identified. One image in particular is of Lieutenant Governor Howard C. Shober, who served as Lieutenant Governor from 1907 to 1911 during the administrations of Coe Crawford and Robert Vessey. Other identified images include Marion Shober (Highmore, SD), Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Harris and son (Highmore, SD), Dr. Leithead (Highmore, SD), sisters Edith and Vera Brace (Highmore, SD), Frank McPherson (Gettysburg, SD), Mrs. Frank McPherson (Gettysburg, SD), Alfred E. Saltmarsh and George H. Smith (Miller, SD), Mrs. William Strickler and infant (Miller, SD), Mrs. Mary Sheward (Gettysburg, SD), and one unidentified image of a male. Identified photo studios include “Photo Gallery on Wheels” – Huron, “Kippenbrock’s” – Highmore, “O.C. Kippenbrock’s” – Highmore, “Ernest Miller” – Miller and “Stoner” – Highmore.
