Industrial Wastes Discharge Files, 1963 - 1977

This series contains records regarding investigations of the disposal of industrial wastes by South Dakota businesses between 1963 and 1977. During this time period responsibility for monitoring industrial waste production passed from the Dept. of Health to the Dept. of Environmental Protection and finally to the Dept. of Water and Natural Resources. Records include reports and notes for on site inspections, some photographs, complaints from the public concerning pollution, meeting minutes and a small number of correspondences between the Dept. of Environmental Protection and the South Dakota Committee on Water Pollution regarding permits for waste product discharge. Records are arranged numerically by the business’ assigned file number.
