Lawrence County School Census Reports, 1887 - 1971
Scope and Contents
This series contains the school census reports for the districts of Lawrence County. As these are the reports sent to the Department of School and Public land many contain only the student’s name, age and parent’s name but later reports may contain information on student mental and physical disabilities and numerous reports contain home addresses of the students. Census reports are arranged numerically by school district number. See box list for more information.

Restrictions
Access to school census reports is partially restricted pursuant to SDCL 1-27-1.5(1) and FERPA. Individuals with appropriate identification can view their own records. All records may be opened to researchers with the written permission of the Department of Education.
