Administrative History
The McCook County State's Attorney serves as the chief prosecutor of adult and juvenile crimes occurring in McCook County. Other reponsibilities of the States Attorney include providing legal advice and representation to the Board of Commissioners and other elected and appointed county officials; providing legal advice and assistance to county officers on employment issues and collective bargaining agreements, election issues, jail matters, property tax valuation appeals, and bonding issues; representing the county in court on civil matters; assisting with the drafting, interpretation and enforcement of county ordinances; and working with other government agencies on joint cooperation ventures.
