School Records, 1903 - 1973
Scope and Contents
This accession contains reports filed with the Minnehaha County Superintendent of Schools by teachers and school district officers. The reports include school censuses, teachers’ term reports, and annual reports submitted by the school district clerk and treasurer. School census reports after 1927 include student birth dates and are restricted from public access. Teachers’ term reports are also restricted as they record student birth dates and grades.
Also included are school district reorganization records such as maps, submitted petitions, statistics, reference publications, newsletters, resolutions, and information about redistricting court cases. Binders containing copies of the Minnehaha County Board of Education minutes and resolutions from Dec. 1955 to Dec. 1967 are available in Box 7886.

Access Restrictions
School Census Reports and Teachers’ Term Reports containing student birth dates and/or grades are restricted from public access pursuant to SDCL 1-27-1.5 and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
